Grand Canyon National Park Celebrates 100th Birthday

Happy Birthday, Grand Canyon National Park!!

Today, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World (sorta) turns 100.

First seen by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1903, the Grand Canyon initially became a National Monument in 1908, before getting the distinguished National Park honor in 1919. It was the 17th designation in US history.

Over a mile deep, and 18 miles wide at some parts, the Grand Canyon is a must-stop-spot for visitors from across the globe. It annually sees over six million people each year – all coming to have their jaws drop when they see the grandest hole of them all.
