The Pandemic Roadtrip – Day 5 – Grand Teton Wildlife

It was a slow morning for the Sills-Trausch boys as we didn’t leave the hostel until 10:30…when we walked to the parking lot to make breakfast in a slight drizzle. Then, once the rain began to fall heavier, we retreated to our room for another few hours of photo editing and planning.

By 4pm, the two of us were on our way into the park, looking for wildlife. Shortly after passing through the park gates, we stumbled upon two mature elk with a full rack of antlers.

I recently bought a new 150-600mm super long lens and this was the first time I was able to test it out on some wildlife. A one day review of it has me loving it!

We continued driving around the park, stopping a couple of times for quick walks, but didn’t end up finding any bears or moose – the goal of every photo hunt.

Luckily, the rains and clouds did clear and allowed us to eat dinner inside the park, looking up at the stunning Grand Teton mountain range. After we finished eating, around 8:30, we ventured out to watch and shoot the sunset.

We’re off to a chilly Yellowstone for day 6 to hopefully find the big animals! Wish us luck.
